Important and Other Information

  • International workers in Australia must have a current working holiday visa.
  • The weather may be wet, hot and difficult, especially in the Australian Summer months. Bring a hat and covered work shoes.
  • Employers will spend time to train you and would like you to stay working for at least 12 weeks.
  • Working times start early and may be up to 10 hours per day.
  • You will get short breaks and will need to take food and drink to work to enjoy on your lunch break.

The following banana farm work is obtainable all year around.

TROPICAL AND EXOTIC FRUIT FARM WORK

There are farms in the Innisfail area that grow rare, exotic and tropical fruits such as rambutan, mangostene, passion fruit, pineapple, lychee, avocado, mango, ginger, coconut, granadilla, and limes.

The following type of casual work may be found at other farms in the area.

  • Paw paw / papaya picking
  • Packing
  • Tractor driving

WAGES

Please note the following:

  • Employers usually pay award wages on an hourly basis. Some employment rates and conditions compare favourably to others.
  • The Management do not negotiate wages, hold or chase up money owed to you. Please do not ask.

You are required to present the following documents to your employer

  • Work Visa
  • Tax File Number.
  • Australian Bank Account details
